In the morning car ride we practiced happy face, since Ms Punitha asked the girls each time when they parted. The first time I asked if I could see a happy face, Mimi gave me a squinted eye and squinted mouth, Ella said "ha ha ha." I asked the girls to add pointing their cheeks while laughing. Ella did it and smiled, so cute. Mimi pushed her fingers deep in her cheecks, squinted her eyes, tightened her mouth, never smiled, but it was super cute.
We picked up the girls from daycare. Ella was climbing onto the car seat, she stopped standing at the edge of the seat, said "我要摸海豹。" Mimi said "海豹会笑咪咪的咬你。" They had a long conversation about Ella wanted to touch hai bao, and hai bao would bite different parts of Ella. When Ella sat on the chair, Mimi let Ella pet hai bao's tail, they spend some time requesting and petting hai bao.
When we got to building 36, the puddle by the door had returned. Mimi followed ba ba and walked around. Ella stood at the edge of the pond, despite our urging, didn't move. We walked a little and looked back. She took a step and stood in the water, then continued stepping on the same spot. We asked that she be careful and headed to the cafe door. She waded the water in the deepest end all the way through, didn't get her pants wet. By the time we came out of the cafe, someone just finished working on the drain and the puddle was gone. Ella said statturly "那个大的呐。" The girls lingered and looked around and at the person. James and me chatted a little with him, and thanked him for saving us girl pants. The girls stared at the person, shyly walked around him, to the car.
