In the morning we went to hanauma bay. There was a trolley to take us down to the bay itself, and the girls got little turtle stamps on their hands as proof of payment. In the bay, the girls played in the water but the water was a little deeper than the last beach. And the waves were much bigger too, so this scared Mimi. She sat down in the sand and a big wave washed over her and she got pretty scared. Ella sat and splashed away to her pleasure.
After some sandy beach play, we explored more of the bay and we found a pack of cats. The girls pointed at the cats and called out to them, but they were uninterested.
The girls were more excited about the washing station than the beach. Then ran through the water again and again screaming. But when it was time for a good rinse they fought and "不要"'ed fiercely.
After some exploration, we headed back up to the top of the bay entrance, the girls showed the trolley driver the turtle stamps as proof.
After the bay. The girls were taken to go up all to the top of the mount to get a good view of the bay. Xiao E said "上楼" almost every step. Until she stopped at one step and wouldn't go up anymore. There were lots of ants and she stared for a while. She ignored my requests to go on. I lifted her up two more steps. She looked back and said "蚂蚁". Then let me lead her away.
On the way down, xiao E refused to hold my hand on the stairs. She tried to grab at the hand rail but it was too far away. I offered hands again, xiao E pointed at rail and said "这个". She made good efforts hanging on the rail, ended up crawling down one stair, then took my hand for the rest. At the next set of steps she again escaped from my hands and pointed "这个" at the rail and tried again.
At alamoana I tried to feed the girls. Xiao E took one bite and refused. Mimi took some bites then refused. She was taken to walk towards the water. When asked if she wanted to play in the water, Mimi said "不要玩水, 要抱抱". She was offered some more 抱抱, then she started playing with the sand. She followed the adults to the water, but gave anxious little whimpers and wouldn't go sit in the water.
Xiao E played cutely in the water, going deeper and deeper. Then she stumbled and had to put her hands down to support her, making her face go under the water, she made struggle to come out but was overwhelmed by the water. She made a little n under the water for a few seconds. She was air lifted by ba ba to shore while wailing.
After the tragedies the girls sat on the sandy part and dug holes with ba ba. Mimi still toddled deeper into the water when I went for a walk in the water. She toddled and sounded 嗯嗯 Mimi siren, but tried to follow me. I returned to shore.
We all excavated. Dug deep until the water would erode the hole. Ba ba dug a big hole and buried Mimi in it, she didn't like it that much. He called it "床", and Mimi was tricked for one moment and
sat down.
Then ba ba dug xiao E a bed and she was buried a little in it. She also didn't like it very much.
When the girls were leaving, they walked by some one else's sand castle. Mimi said "Mimi 睡觉". When asked what the castle was, Mimi said "Mimi 的床". When asked to lay in it, Mimi went around and sat in the sand. Xiao E also joined and played a little more.
The girls went to great uncle's house for dinner. They ate a good amount of rice, fish, and tofu. Xiao E refused to eat anything. She had some fun forking rice and eating a bite here and there. But mostly tried to feed Mimi and me.
I tried to put some fish on the fork. First time xiao E plucked it from the fork and threw away. Second time she licked and put the fork back down. Then looked bored and sat and stared around. I took the fish off, and xiao E continued her rice forking.
大舅婆 offered the girls some bread, xiao E loved the bread and ate one after another. The adults then tended to themselves and ate. 小舅婆 continued to offer the girls bread. Xiao E ate at least six.
Then 小舅婆 announced the girls are done. Then xiao E started crying. Ma ma pointed to one piece of bread that she torn off earlier and abandoned on the table. She stopped crying, quickly grabbed the bread and shoved it in her mouth. She chewed with her mouthful while having a xiao tear on her cheek. The adults laughed at her.
The girls played with the aunties and uncles after, they really remembered uncle Jackie. They can say "Jackie" pretty well now.
At dinner auntie brought out 龙眼. Mimi said "要吃" immediately. When asked what it is, she said "龙眼睛".
Mimi clung to me, then somehow xiao E made her way into my lap while I was spacing out. Mimi raged and swam on the floor. Ba ba rescued Mimi to the couch.
Xiao E continued to play with the little chairs with aunties and uncles. When Eva asked who wants to sit on the chair, xiao E said "Mimi, Mimi 的凳凳". Then she yelled "MIIIMIII, MIII MIIII", and looked around for Mimi. She spotted Mimi on the couch with ba ba, and ran there. After some unknown activity xiao E came back and continued to stack the little chairs.
After dinner, after leaving. Eva jie jie asked whose shoes were the blue ones, xiao E said "ella的鞋鞋". Eva asked whose shoes were the red ones, xiao E said "Mimi的鞋鞋". Mimi did the same when asked, recognizing the red shoes were hers. Then she demanded to hold them.
The girls were still shy with 大舅爷, rejecting his 爱的抱抱. Xiao E did a little cheek to cheek and blew some kisses. Mimi held on to her shoes, and shyly kissed the shoes a few times.
Mimi was too squirmy. She was let down and put on shoes. Then she started saying "Mimi 下楼", then "下楼" for each stair she took, all the way down. Then "Mimi 走路", "走了", "走路" all the way across the street.
The girls saw a weird terrier on the walk. It was so weirdly stocky with a weird face the girls just stared. Then Mimi said "Mimi 跑" for a bit, then "Mimi 跑的快". The adults cheered for her, she toddled wobbly. Suddenly she stopped and said "Mimi 肚肚疼". When asked if she really had a tummy ache, Mimi said "Mimi 肚肚不疼 Mimi 跑".
After dinner, it was back to the other great uncle's house. They took a bath and then wilded around the house. They ran around yelling "BIU BIU BIU BIU" like little laser guns. And then they were playing WHERE'S ELLA behind the curtain. Ella would grab the curtain, hide behind it, and then walk forward until the curtain revealed her. Mimi would assist with grabbing the curtain for ella.
Mimi was put in playpen while xiao E was changed. Mimi demanded 抱抱, then said "Mimi 大便". Mimi then strained and said "Mimi 大便" a few times. There was no 大便.
At night the girls talked wildly. Mimi said "大卫哥哥" repeatedly.
They saw some yogurt squeeze pouches on the bed and both wanted them. Mimi was desperately grabbing, xiao E made squeeze grab gestures and asked me to give it to her.
The girls were friendly with each other, but when I started recording they started biting each other.
We turned off the light and the girls babbled nonstop in the dark. At one point xiao E said "Mimi ella 哭了". When asked why they cried. The girls vaguely said "Ella/Mimi打". Mimi seemed to say "因为Mimi打姐姐". Xiao E seemed to say "Ella不玩儿, Mimi不玩儿". Mimi started saying "fist bump".
The girls fought again and were laid down. But afterwards they were caught high fiving through the mesh in the playpen.
Mimi laid down first rolling all around 长猫. Xiao E quietly arranged tu tu and xiao mao for a bit, trying to put one on the other's head, put them in different corners. She then continued to murmur different things, then laid down quietly. She laid for an hour before falling asleep.
